The Murals project at The Playpark in Exeter
Back to the home page

Coinciding with the play park’s first birthday, 7 mural panels were unveiled by Cllr Jill Owen
and Cllr Lesley Robson. Based on the park itself, the children who use it and the animals

and birds it supports, the panels have been designed and painted by the children from

Countess Wear Community School, Ellen Tinkham School, Southbrook School
and
Wynstream School.
The mural project was overseen by public artist Karen Hawkins (www.oceanicarts.org )

5 panels depict and illustrate 2 Aesop’s Fables: stories with a moral.  They have been adapted to
include The Bat, The Mouse and The Fox and The Fox, The Crow and The Cheese.

The other 2 panels show children playing on the equipment in the play park.
This exciting project has involved children of all abilities and a
range of ages working together co-operatively.
